HERE TO HELP WITH YOUR MEDICAL NEEDS
Our Frequently Asked Questions
The best way to request prescription refills is through your pharmacy. We try to ensure you have enough refills to last you till your next appointment. The chances are the pharmacy may have a refill on your medication. If they don’t, they will be able to contact us with the correct information.
You may also request them via patient portal or phone call.
Depending on the type of medication, you may require at least an annual, but sometimes, more frequent office visits.
The purpose of these visits is to:
Monitor your condition: The doctor needs to ensure the medication is still working effectively for you and that your condition hasn't changed.
Check for side effects: Even with long-term medications, it's important to monitor for any potential side effects or changes in your overall health that might be related to the medication.
Review lab results (if applicable): For some conditions, we need current lab work to ensure the medication is being tolerated well by your body, such as checking kidney or liver function.
Ensure appropriate dosage: Your health needs can change over time, and the doctor wants to make sure the dosage is still correct for you.
Meet legal and safety guidelines: Certain medications require regular evaluations to comply with the best medical practices and regulations.
We recommend that every patient schedules an annual physical or a Medicare wellness visit (whichever may apply) once a year. Most insurance plans cover this visit without any cost to the patient.
An annual physical typically includes a review of your health history, a physical examination, age-appropriate screening tests and vaccinations, as well as discussion about healthy lifestyle. It is focused on prevention and health optimization.
A Medicare wellness visit includes an in-depth evaluation of functional status as well as screening tests and vaccinations.
Many insurance plans, including Medicare, cover 100% of the cost of a preventative visit.
However, any services provided, or conditions discussed that are outside the scope of preventative care will be billed separately. These services may include:
1. Addressing a new illness, injury, or symptoms.
2. Management, discussion, or prescribing medication for a pre-existing chronic condition (example, diabetes, hypertension, or high cholesterol).
3. In-depth discussion or treatment of existing medical problems.
You may be responsible for co-pay, deductible, or coinsurance if you choose to address any issues during this visit that are not covered under your preventative benefits.
Combining a wellness visit with a problem visit when time allows saves you time and travel involved for a separate problem visit.
We understand that it is inconvenient to come in for a visit. However, a face-to-face evaluation is important for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
Many illnesses have similar symptoms, but a trained professional can differentiate an emergency from a minor illness.
Often, an in-person evaluation yields a different diagnosis and treatment course than the one recommended by the internet or family.
